Canadian Sandrine Lafond's LITTLE LADY at Orlando Fringe Festival
description:
Repeats on May 19, 20, 22, 24, 25 and 26, 2012.
LITTLE LADY
Created by Sandrine Lafond
Directed by John Turner of Mump&Smoot
Physical Theater/Dance/Clown/Bouffon.
The transformation of Cirque Du Soleil performer and Celine Dion dancer to performer generated theater artist is mirrored in this dark, comic and at times grotesque fable about our modern obsession with image. The exquisite movement skills of Lafond juxtapose with the world of distortion and manipulation accentuating LITTLE LADY’s tormented and blissful metamorphosis.
Composer: Yves Frula.
Video and photography: Paolo Santos
Make up: Elisabeth Lehoux
Seamstress: Marie laure Larrieu and Nelly Rogerson
Assisted by: John Stone

Sandrine was born in France where she started dancing at five years old. She attended the prestigious Rosella Hightower Dance School in Cannes. A gypsy at heart she traveled from one country to another to study new ways of interpreting her art. Then eighteen years ago she fell in love with Montreal and its cultural scene. From that point on; the North American continent became her home, and the rest of the world her playground.
Sandrine has had the pleasure to work with Cirque du Soleil (Delirium, Kooza, Zarkana, special events), Celine Dion (A New Day), Marie Chouinard (Etude Poignante, The Right Of Spring, The cry of the world, Chopin) and Philippe Decoufle (1992 Olympic Games opening ceremony) and many other talented friends along the way.
Her desire to break new ground brought her to Japan to study with Butoh master Min Tanaka and back home to Canada to study clown with director John Turner of Mump & Smoot, Francine Cote and bouffon with Karen Hines of Pochsy fame.
Filled with that knowledge she felt the need to create her own work, which gave life to the character “Little Lady”. A personal reflection on the six years of her life in Las Vegas. Sandrine won the CAFF (Fringe lottery) 2012 and will be performing all year across the North American continent to end her tour in September in Vancouver.

Smart Comedy Benefit for Orlando Public Schools
description:
The Smart Comedy Support Group will perform at the Orlando Fringe Festival. Mary Tischbein and Suzanne Willett will be finding the funny from subjects like Armageddon, Death, Games and Identity Theft.
Smart Comedy is an initiative of Silver Glass Productions, a non-profit dedicated to socially relevant productions. Willett is an off-Broadway playwright whose solo shows, PAIN and the Feminazi, toured both the US and Canada. She has worked with JJ Walker and Billy Ghardell. Tischbein is the winner of the Sarasota division of Florida’s Funniest Comedian and was recently seen at Gilda Radner’s Laugh Fest. "I love the idea of Smart Comedy", says Tischbein. "it's like a smart car: misunderstood, a little uncomfortable, but it's going to save the world".
A portion of the proceeds will go to fund Ms. Lowery’s second grade project, Giving Students a Voice through Writing. “Since we are expressing ourselves through our writing, we thought a writing project would be a great cause to contribute to,” says Willett.

Love Saves The Day
description:
Love Saves The Day is a brand new greenfield festival in the heart of Bristol. Very much a Mecca for British music, ‘The Bristol Scene’ has a near legendary reputation for nurturing and promoting pioneering musical talent. Its rich sonic heritage has long been admired by the rest of the world and with today's burgeoning scene this has never been more relevant.
The team behind Glastonbury Dance Village's Wow! stage, last year's incredible See No Evil and one half of the brains behind In:Motion amongst many other events have come together to put all these years of experience into what will be a celebration of all of it, a celebration of this city and all that makes it so great, but beyond that a celebration of music, parties, and good times.
Love Saves The Day is not just a festival, it is the culmination of many years spent in fields & clubs, in tents, on dance floors and stages across the UK and beyond - from the late nights to the early mornings, from lugging sound systems through muddy fields to booking amazing acts and watching them grow, everything has been moving towards this event…. Team Love x
Featuring local caters, exhibitors and art installations, Love Saves The Day celebrates all that is inspirational about this iconic city.
Unstoppable DJ force Annie Mac performs at the inaugural event. Forever the emblem of creativity, her flagship radio programme Annie Mac’s Mash Up has earned international recognition. Armed to the teeth with a plethora of vinyl plates, Annie will be bringing her unquenchable passion for new sounds to this year’s festival!
The undisputed titans of turntablism, Foreign Beggars will be hijacking the sound system. Having received international recognition for their mind blowing mixing techniques, the dynamic duo will be upsetting the rhythm with their colossal live shows. Nominated as Best New Act at The Hip-Hop Awards 2004 this will be a performance of gargantuan proportions!
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs will be spotted at Castle Park. The solo project of Oxford born Orlando Dinosaur, his arresting blend of euro house and two-step beats will send shockwaves from the speakers and into the crowd. His sounds are anything but prehistoric!
Stirring cyclonic waves of reverb on Bristol’s dubstep circuit, Joker will deliver his unique brand of auditory chaos to the proceedings. Having hijacked the nation’s ears with anthems like Snake Eater and Holly Brook Park; expect a relentless induction into the digital dark arts!
Mr Scruff is the legendary DJ, cartoonist, producer and tea drinker. His much revered DJ sets take in Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Dubstep, Latin, African, Ska, Disco, House, Funk, Breaks, Soundtracks & loads more and his set will be an undoubted highlight of the festival.
The undisputed titan of the British House scene: Jamie Jones has amassed a global following most DJs can only dream of and conquered the cardinal points on the dance music map. From Fabric to Space Terrance, let’s ride the groove to the next echelon!
Producing music at the tender age of 15, Maya Jane Coles talent knows no bounds. Having performed, mixed, produced and engineered the elements on her releases, her absorbing take on house music is underpinned by her consistent drive to push the envelope!
Love Saves The Day is delighted to play host to the mighty Bonobo. Having forged an illustrious career, Bonobo is a much-lauded name on the British dance music circuit, consistently selling out shows across the country and beyond, and Elegantly blending fragmented jazz with complex basslines.
The rapidly up and coming Eats Everything is a producer whose larger than life appearance shapes his equally magnificent musical style! Casting aside categorisation, his techy-house cut ups are regularly laden with the soulful harmonies of Randy Crawford and Ray Charles. A true purveyor of the oldest and boldest sounds!
David Kennedy, aka Pearson Sound is an artist who finds himself in new and innovative situations. Having championed critical recognition off the back of his FABRICLIVE compilation, 2011 saw him support Radiohead in New York. Constantly pushing the parameters of his expertise, the amplifiers will indeed be set to stun!
London based producer Joy Orbison personifies the meaning of originality. Combining garage beat with 8-bit grime loops, he is a dynamo within the Hotflush Recordings camp. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of influences, expect to be served a delectable schmorgesborg of sounds!
One of the co-founders of Hessle Audio, Ben UFO’s releases are ground breaking in both content and stature. Winning critical recognition for his dynamic electronic masterpieces, he remains one of the small cluster of DJs who have hit the stratosphere without a production career to fall back on. Assimilating dubstep bass loops with bric-a-brac minimalism, his musical style is as out of this world as his name!
The Dance Off Crew bring colour, fun and some serious dance moves to Love Saves The Day. Having been crowned the ‘most lively and fun stage’ at The Secret Garden Party, this collective of enthusiastic shape cutters will be brining the atmosphere to fever pitch. Certainly a sight to behold, expect carnival-esque dance sequences with a couple cream pies thrown in for good measure!
Combing local knowledge and local passion, Team Love will announce further artists over the forthcoming weeks and will throw the mother of all parties in Bristol in June. Thanks to the Queen you can kick back and relax and let some of the world’s most pioneering artists take you on a sonic journey.

Ascendio 2012: A Harry Potter Fan Event
description:
Ascendio is, at heart, an academic conference by, for and about Harry Potter fans. It features a “Formal Programming” schedule of presentations, panels, workshops and roundtables. Each of our attendees has the opportunity to propose a programming session and while many of our presenters are academics, media personalities, “fandom celebrities" and authors, the dynamism of our HPEF events comes from all the fans, gathered together to celebrate Harry Potter.
The formal programming schedule runs the gamut, from academic discussions of themes and characters, to roundtable discussions of HP couples (or “ships”!), to workshops where you can learn to knit a House scarf or steampunk your wand. Plus, there's Wizard Rock (wrock), Quidditch matches with the International Quidditch Association, a presentation by Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley), a private park event just for our attendees and their friends, showcases for crafts, art, writing and at least two live musicals written and performed by fans, for fans.
Celebrate fandom, creativity and magic at ASCENDIO.

C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters Returns to Irvine by Popular Demand
description:
Chicago, IL - THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon’s point of view, will return to Irvine by popular demand for a limited engagement at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, adjacent to University of California Irvine, from July 12 through July 15. The production sold out five performances at the same venue in July 2011.
The National Tour of THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS kicked off after a hit nine-month run at the Westside Theatre in New York City where it entertained 50,000 theatergoers. Prior to that, THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS was a sold out hit in Chicago and Washington D. C. where it ran for a combined eight months.
Now in its second smash year, THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS’ National Tour has delighted capacity audiences in 50 major cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Salt Lake City, Orlando, Seattle, Dallas and Houston. Over 200,000 have seen this production on tour, which continues to attract a national following.
Associated Press calls THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS “Devilishly funny!” The Chicago Sun-Times hails the production as “Smart, sizzling entertainment!;” The Boston Globe raves that it is “Engrossing and Entertaining!” and The Chicago Tribune says THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is “Very smart...richly rewarding...exuberant theatricality!”
THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS creates a topsy-turvy morally inverted universe set in an eerily stylish office in hell, where God is called the “Enemy” and the devil is referred to as “Our Father below.”
The play follows His Abysmal Sublimity Screwtape, Satan’s top psychiatrist in his understanding human nature, played by award winning actor Max McLean, and his creature-demon secretary Toadpipe, as they train an apprentice demon, Wormwood, on the fine art of seducing an unsuspecting human “patient” down the “soft, gentle path to hell.”
Along with The Chronicles of Narnia (including The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), The Great Divorce and Mere Christianity, THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is still one of Lewis’ most popular and influential works. The book's piercing insight into human nature and the lucid and humorous way Lewis makes his readers squirm in self-recognition made it an immediate success. When first published in 1942 it brought worldwide fame to this little-known Oxford don including the cover of Time Magazine.
The idea for Screwtape first came to Lewis after listening to Hitler’s Reichstag Speech on July 19, 1940, while it was simultaneously translated on BBC Radio. Lewis wrote “I don’t know if I’m weaker than other people, but it is a positive revelation to me how while the speech lasts it is impossible not to waver just a little… Statements which I know to be untrue all but convince me…if only the man says them unflinchingly.”
Lewis dedicated it to his close friend J. R. R. Tolkien who had expressed to Lewis that delving too deeply into the craft of evil would have consequences. Lewis admitted as much when he wrote “Though I had never written anything more easily, I never wrote with less enjoyment . . . though it was easy to twist one’s mind into the diabolical attitude, it was not fun, or not for long. The work into which I had to project myself while I spoke through Screwtape was all dust, grit, thirst, and itch. Every trace of beauty, freshness, and geniality had to be excluded.”
THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is produced by New York City based Fellowship for the Performing Arts. Max McLean serves as Artistic Director. Executive Producer and General Manager is Ken Denison of Aruba Productions. Scenic Design is by Cameron Anderson, Costumes by Michael Bevins, Lighting Design by Jesse Klug, and Original Music and Sound Design by John Gromada.
The performance schedule for THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is Thursday, July 12 and Friday, July 13 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, July 14 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 15 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available in the following price tiers: $62, $52 and $42. There are a limited number of premium seats available for $92 and student seats for $28 (student ID required). For groups of 10 or more (including student groups) call 866.476.8707.
To purchase tickets, visit www.ScrewtapeonStage.com, call 949.854.4646 ext.1 or visit the box office at 4242 Campus Drive in Irvine.

About Us
As we operate as one body of sisters in unity, our vision is to mentor and assist women in advancing in their spiritual growth through the transforming power of the Word of God. It is our goal to ignite, inspire, and encourage women to walk in kingdom dominion and discover the greatness of God's power within. We seek to expose and break the strongholds that have held women in bondage and train them to reign in the earth, and take dominion, thereby becoming witnesses of the kingdom of God.
Women from all walks of life will be challenged to:
*Discover their identity...
*Walk in the call of God on their lives...
*Live and operate in the kingdom of God...
*Cultivate character and self esteem...
*Develop to the next level of leadership...
Through practical applications of the word of God, we are committed to seeing women live preeminently victorious in every area of their lives. The result of women changing, evolving and maturing into their ordained purposes, is homes, churches, communities, and the nations of God being affected and forever changed.
Mission Statement
Kingdom Women Changing, Evolving, and Maturing in Excellence, Dominion, and Virtue
Foundational Scripture

C.S Lewis' THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Comes to San Jose
description:
“Clever and Satirical!”
THE NEW YORK TIMES
“ One Hell of a Good Show!”
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
“Pure Genius”
NATIONAL REVIEW
“A Profound Experience!”
CHRISTIANITY TODAY
Chicago, IL - THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon’s point of view, comes to San Jose for two performances only. The production will run at the San Jose Performing Arts Center, 255 Almaden Boulevard, Saturday, September 22 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The performance schedule for THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is Saturday, September 22 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are available in the following price tiers: $59, $49 and $39. There are a limited number of premium seats available for $89 and student seats for $25 (student ID required). For groups of 10 or more (including student groups) call 866.476.8707.
To purchase tickets, visit www.ScrewtapeonStage.com, call 408.792.4111 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p,m, or visit the box office at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, 150 W San Carlos St., San Jose (in advance) or the San Jose Performing Arts Center box office, 255 Almaden Boulevard, San Jose (day of).

Self-Directed IRAs:

The Time Has Never Been Better to
Invest in Real Estate and Much More!
For the past three years, our clients and guests have experienced an amazing event with information-packed breakout sessions and the ability to connect with other investors. All of that returns with this year’s Equity University Networking Conference, but we’ve stepped it up a notch to mirror the massive buzz surrounding the power of self-directed IRAs.
Self-directed IRAs are no longer just limited to casual conversations among small groups meeting up at a local café. The proven wealth-building power of self-directed IRAs is out in the open and quickly gaining traction.
The evidence comes from major media outlets including the The Wall Street Journal, CNBC and many others: The alternative investment market is exploding as investors awaken to their true profit-building value. The timing is right…the real estate market is the place to be. Now is the time to be part of something big…something that’s only going to grow!
Are you ready?
What You Can Expect
With the exception of a few big-name financial superstars, most Networking Conference sessions are led by successful Equity Trust self-directed investors (people just like you) who took massive action and locked in stunning wealth for generations to come. And so can you.
There’s nothing more powerful than soaking up financial wisdom from everyday, real-world investors – the people who are actually out there hunting down the investment gems, making the right decisions in today’s unpredictable markets and reaping incredible returns.

Kathleen Edwards with Hannah Georgas
description:
In 1999, Edwards recorded a six-song EP entitled Building 55 and pressed 500 copies. By the fall of 2000, she was on tour across Canada managing her own gigs. In 2001, she wrote seven of the ten songs for her 2003 debut release Failer.
Edwards played at SXSW in 2002 and was signed to Rounder Records and MapleMusic shortly after. Failer was released in Canada in the fall of 2002 on MapleMusic Recordings. In January 2003 Failer was released by Rounder Records in the US and internationally. Rolling Stone declared her one of year's most promising new acts and Blender said that Failer's songs possessed "an indefinable pull that makes you love the characters they describe, no matter how fucked up they are." The New York Times praised Edwards as a writer whose songs can "pare situations down to a few dozen words while they push country-rock towards its primal impulses of thump and twang." She made her television network debut on "Late Show with David Letterman," where she performed "Six O'Clock News."
In 2005, Edwards released Back to Me, which also garnered considerable critical acclaim, and led to the release of the singles "Back to Me" and "In State". The track "Summerlong" also featured on the soundtrack of the movie Elizabethtown starring Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst.
In 2008, Edwards released her third studio album, Asking for Flowers. It was described by the San Francisco Bay Guardian as "her finest album to date", and was a shortlisted nominee for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize. In contrast with 2005's Back to Me, on which Edwards relied on her working band, Asking for Flowers predominantly features session musicians.
In fall 2010, Edwards began working on her fourth studio album in Wisconsin. Voyageur was released in January 2012. It includes the single "Change the Sheets," and was co-produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.
She appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on January 17, 2012, singing "Change the Sheets" from her new album Voyageur.
